Healing outside of the box - A new idea for each month of the year
Sound Healing
The practice of using different sound vibrations and frequencies to promote circulation, energy flow and rejuvenation.
What is Sound Healing?
Sound Healing is a growing field of alternative medicine, but it’s been around for thousands of years. Although it’s now become all the rage in the wellness world, music has been used throughout history to create positive effects on our mood and as a form of therapy to heal the mind, body and spirit. I’m sure many of us can relate to putting on a particular song or album to make us feel better. Whilst this type of music is great for our wellbeing, sound therapy involves using specialised sound frequencies to create a therapeutic atmosphere to promote deep rest, emotional release and balance the nervous system. Sound healing is focused on the power of vibration, using tuning forks, singing bowls or gongs to relax the mind and body. The vibrations work at a cellular level healing from deep within, so there’s no need to actively use the mind.
Why I love Sound Healing
I love sound healing because there is very little to do but to lie comfortably in a warm environment. The human body is made up of 75% water, making us perfect conductors for vibration. The vibrations emitted during sound healing can help release trapped emotions and in turn relieve tension, anxiety and depression. I struggle to meditate sometimes, but I find it really easy to relax during a sound bath and completely switch off my thoughts.
