Healing outside of the box - A new idea for each month of the year
Plant Medicine
Using mother nature and indigenous knowledge to help restore your body, so that it can protect, regulate and heal itself.
What is Plant Medicine?
For tens of thousands of years, humans around the world had all their needs met by nature and the land. They didn’t have a pharmacy. Instead, they used the roots, herbs, fungi and trees around them. The earth provides us with everything we need, we just seem to have lost this indigenous wisdom over the past few hundred years. Plant medicines can be both preventative and healing. Plants strengthen the immune system to help us avoid disease, but also return the body to a state of natural balance so that we can heal ourselves. And some plant medicines don’t just treat physical ailments but can also expand the mind in incredible ways. Plants that have psychedelic properties can take people on transformational inner journeys of self-reflection that can end up having profound positive effects on their lives.
Why I love Plant Medicine
The natural world is full of beauty and healing if you know where to look. “In some Native languages the term for plants translates to “those who take care of us”. I love this beautiful quote from a book I read called Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I'm still early on in my plant medicine healing journey, but can't wait to explore more plant medicines this year and let nature take care of me.
